About the Great East Japan Earthquake Rescue and Reconstruction Support Project

Aiming towards reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, the University of Tokyo is engaged in rescue and reconstruction support activities in various fields, including health and medical care, urban planning, radiation-related matters, and volunteer work.

Since the launch of the support fund on June 1, 2011, as of January 31st, 2015, the University has received a total of approximately 20 million yen in donations. We would like to thank all donors for their generous support.

A portion of the donations received is being provided to students from affected areas in the form of scholarships and also being used for expenses relating to the dispatch of volunteer units to the affected areas. In addition, the donations are being used to fund programs that utilize research outcomes of the University to engage in assistance and are registered under the Great East Japan Earthquake Rescue and Reconstruction Support Project.
